Personal:

Happily married with one kid. Chemical engineer. Although I've always maintained a healthy level of fitness, I didn't pick up running until junior year at BYU. Now I live in Idaho, where I leave for work at 5am and don't get home until 5:40pm. I try to get a short run in during lunch time at work and then a little something else after work. Some might call that a weekend warrior, but I make an honest effort during the week as well. Say hello!

2 mile warmup

3 sets of 1 mile at lactate threshold (6:34/mi), 2 miles at goal marathon pace (7:09/mi), 1 mile recovery

2.6 mile cooldown

It's actually warm enough to melt some of the ice today! :D

4 easy miles before dinner. Then we went to the Festival of Lights, which Ellie really enjoyed. She unfortunately dropped her favorite toy and now it is probably gone forever.

On a brighter note, I got a Most Miles Run prize at work for the year: a gift card to Bills Bike & Run, wahoo!

Treadmill workout at lunch: 4x(4 minutes I, 3 minutes recovery) + 4x(1 minute repetition, 2 minutes recovery). I ate a big creamy peanut butter brownie thing about 30 minutes before starting this workout. That was definitely a mistake! (7 miles in 49:47)

Treadmill at work. This time was right when I got to work (6:45), so that I wouldn't miss the white elephant gift exchange at lunch time. There were some decent strides in the run. (6.6 miles in 49:39)

5 easy miles in 39 minutes before dinner. We celebrated Idaho-Christmas tonight. Ellie was so excited to open here presents: a Monkey beanie with mittens, and some Mega Blox (giant legos). She loves the blox and was so upset to leave them for bedtime.

Ended my lunch run early today. Not feeling 100% and I don't know if I'm the upswing or descent as far as illness sucky-ness. (5.1 in 40:11)

Was feeling better progressively throughout the day. Decided to do 20 minutes in the evening. (2.6 in 20:12).

An unfortunate running experience. 90 minutes easy on the treadmill. My Achilles felt a slight twinge, certainly nothing that has been a concern before. Well now a day later it is uncomfortable to the point that I know I should not run. Darn! (11.7 in 90:00)

My mother signed herself, my dad, and me up for this race the day it was announced. My dad doesn't run at all, although he is an active swimmer and cyclist. I planned to walk this whole thing with him because of my tendinitis. My race day fever got the better of me and I ran the second half. I'll pay for it later.
