Long-Term Running Goals:

Finishing a marathon in under 3 hours. This is actually my goal in my upcoming marathon in August 2019 (Pocatello).

Personal:

Happily married with one kid. Chemical engineer, now studying statistics. Although I've always maintained a healthy level of fitness, I didn't pick up running until junior year at BYU. Now I live in Idaho, where I leave for work at 4:30am and don't get home until 5:30pm. I try to get a short run in before work and usually something during lunch. My focus in running is improving my marathon time, but I like to participate in all the races I can. I am a Honey Stinger Hive ambassador and hoping to qualify for the Boston Marathon for the first time this August by completing the Pocatello Marathon in under 3 hours. Say hello!

Got up  to go to work this morning. Cheyenne had already gotten up because she couldn't sleep. Asked me to stay home today because she thought it might be the day. Ten minutes later we are getting ready to go to the hospital. 2 hours later, our son was born. Wow! That was a quick wonderful experience. Now we have a beautiful healthy baby boy :)

Workout the day after donating blood. The difference was noticeable (at least I choose to blame my diminished energy on yesterday's blood donation!).

5x1 mile at lactate threshold effort with 1 minute rests. 8x200m at mile effort with 200m recoveries. I sweat a lot and was ready to be done. 11.42, including warm up and cooldown, which together were almost 4 miles. (11.42 in 1:23:00)

Got up early and finished off 100 miles for Christmas week. Kinda silly, but I wanted to do it, even if it was just on the treadmill. Today was a small workout. 3x1miles at lactate threshold, 3 minutes at VO2max, then 1 hour cool down. I felt some heat in my left ankle so I slowed it down and finished off the miles I needed for my mileage goal (13.1 in 1:46:43)
