Long-Term Running Goals:

Finishing a marathon in under 3 hours. This is actually my goal in my upcoming marathon in May 2019.

Personal:

Happily married with one kid. Chemical engineer, now studying statistics. Although I've always maintained a healthy level of fitness, I didn't pick up running until junior year at BYU. Now I live in Idaho, where I leave for work at 5am and don't get home until 5:40pm. I try to get a short run in before work and on a blue moon I do a little something else after work. Some might call that a weekend warrior, but I make an honest effort during the week as well. Say hello!

I've recently found satisfaction watching YouTube videos from the bookstore Politics and Prose. They have interviews with high profile authors. Today I watched an interview with Masha Gessen on her new-ish book "The Future is History". I highly recommend the interviews, and there are a lot of them. Lots of National Book awards and Pulitzer prizes on there.

Went early so I could do a workout:

3 sets of two miles at threshold pace (6:49/mi, 6:44/mi, and 6:40/mi) with two minute recoveries in between. Felt really good, better than I have felt in a long time doing something like this. (8.1 in 57:01)

Great workout this morning. 2 mile warm up. 6 sets of 1 mile at threshold pace with 1 minute recoveries, immediately followed by 4 sets of 200s at repetition pace with 200 jog recoveries, immediately followed by 2 more sets of 1 mile at threshold pace with a 1 minute recovery in between. 1 mile easy, then 4 sets of 400s at repetition pace with 400 jog recoveries. Cooldown for about 2.5 miles. (17.2 in 2:05:32)
