Long-Term Running Goals:

Finishing a marathon in under 3 hours. This is actually my goal in my upcoming marathon in August 2019 (Pocatello). a 2020 marathon.

Personal:

Happily married with one kid. Chemical engineer, now studying statistics. Although I've always maintained a healthy level of fitness, I didn't pick up running until junior year at BYU. Now I live in Idaho, where I leave for work at 4:30am and don't get home until 5:30pm. I try to get a short run in before work and usually something during lunch. My focus in running is improving my marathon time, but I like to participate in all the races I can. I am a Honey Stinger Hive ambassador and hoping to qualify for the Boston Marathon for the first time this August by completing a 2020 marathon in under 3 hours. Say hello!

Easy on my standard 3:30am greenbelt path in the morning. Felt meh. (8.05 in 1:06:33)

Very nice easy run with Jack at lunch time. It was pretty warm, but it wasn't bad with the very slight breeze and being distracted by conversation. Felt better than this morning. (5.15 in 0:44:42)

Easy lunch run. Felt warmer today than yesterday. I was wanting to do a workout tomorrow morning, but I think I'll give my ankle a break until the weekend. (5.23 in 0:45:07)

Some fast splits, but otherwise very relaxed effort. My stomach felt like it was set with concrete for most of the run... Not sure how else to describe it but it wasn't nice. (10.16 in 1:23:13)

Easy run at lunch time. The heat was uncomfortable today, but I felt like my body got into sync by the end of my run, because it became progressively easier to maintain an easy pace, and the heat stopped bothering me as much. (5.22 in 0:44:10)

Well this went as well as I'd hoped. In the past I've gone for 3 hours. I definitely felt fine enough to go another 15 minutes, but the ankle started feeling slightly off. It might've been nothing but there was no reason to risk it. I got what I needed, which is to wrap my mind around the marathon distance before I start winding down to race day. I am pretty excited for the big day!
